Why We Go
At Grace Point, we believe missions is about more than projects, it’s about holistic discipleship. The gospel restores broken relationships with God, self, others, and creation. We go to serve, to learn, and to partner with the local church as the primary means of God’s mission in the world.
About the area and our partners:
Beneath the beauty of Guatemala’s land and people, malnutrition, which has been called the silent killer, robs children of the opportunity to experience the healthy, full lives God intended for them.
In the Western Highlands of Guatemala, 67% of children under the age of 5 are chronically malnourished. Malnutrition stunts cognitive and physiological growth in the first 1000 days of life, and the stunting is irreversible.
M4 Institute has been working with the Maya in the Western Highlands of Guatemala since 2011. Their access to impoverished remote highland communities is provided through a partnership with the Guatemalan Ministry of Agriculture (MAGA) and local municipalities. Their partnerships provides opportunities to serve in:
- Food production
- constructing micro greenhouses which grow over 6000 vegetables (teams can build four greenhouses in one week)
- Rabbit husbandry
- Nutrition training and cooking demonstrations
- Hygiene and sanitation instruction
- Small business development and best practices
- Medical clinics
- Physicians, PAs, NPs, Nurses, Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapisits. Audiologists, Dentists, medical students, etc.
- Church training
